Lily of the valley is a spring ornamental plant famous for its sweet scent. However, it contains potent cardiac glycosides (convallatoxin) that are lethal even in tiny amounts.

Dangerous even without direct contact

Toxic cardiac glycosides dissolve in vase water. Pets drinking from the vase can develop serious cardiac toxicity.
