Corn kernels themselves aren't toxic, but the cob is a classic cause of severe intestinal obstruction — it's indigestible and rigid enough to lodge in the stomach or intestines. Large, partially chewed pieces can also choke a dog by lodging in the esophagus. Signs can appear within hours or take days to show, so contact a vet if a cob was eaten even without symptoms yet.
