Commercially sold cashews are already steamed or boiled, which removes the urushiol-like irritant found in raw cashews straight from the tree, so small amounts are generally fine. Their high fat content still poses a pancreatitis and weight-gain risk with frequent or large servings, so offer only occasional small amounts of unsalted cashews.
